Can you please let me know if you are still experiencing this problem on the most recent versions of Arch Linux packages? Please let me know. Your response is appreciated.

You should enable the smbd service instead of the samba service (unless you are hosting an active directory server setup in your samba config, samba.service will fail to start). Additionally the nmbd.service needs to also be started as well. I am not getting any crash on the latest samba (smbd.service and nmbd.service active) This should probably be closed.
