R cannot load ggplot2 R-3.2.2-1 starts, but when attempting to load ggplot: > library(ggplot2) Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath, ...) : unable to load shared object '/home/foo/.r/stringi/libs/stringi.so': libicui18n.so.55: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Error: package or namespace load failed for 'ggplot2' Downgrading icu to icu-55.1-1 fixes the issue but then libreoffice-still-4.4.6-1, firefox-42.0-1, and probably many others that require icu-56 fail to start. Steps to reproduce: Fully update the system. Install R. From within R install ggplot2. Start R. Load ggplot2. |

Libraries installed by the R package manager are not under Arch control. You will have to rebuild them yourself when there's a soname bump.
