Details

After a -Syu, I do a ls -al /var/lib/pacman/community to see if new packages were available. All the directories and files in this folder are owned to UID 1001:GID 100, which on my config is liliz:users (my girlfriend login). They should all be set to root:root !

Additional comments about closing:  Changed to using fakeroot, this shouldn't be an issue any more.

Paul, 1001 is your UID. If you run the script through fakeroot, you should be able to build the tarball with root.root ownership.
