Description: The screen flickers when Abiword is opened. The flicker extends down the left border of the document and across the top 20 percent or so of the screen, rendering it almost useless for serious use. It doesn't seem to matter whether the document is existing or new -- although text in the document doesn't appear to be affected until the screen is almost full. I have no idea when this started. I had used the current version (3.0.1-2) earlier without incident. However, recently I had switched to a different word processor. I reinstalled Abiword late Oct. 10, which is when I noticed the flickering. I have an Nvidia GeForce 6150SE graphics card, and I'm using the nvidia-304xx legacy driver.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
I'm using the x86_64 version of Abiword 3.0.1-2.
* config and/or log files etc.
Here is my Xorg.0.log:

Just to let you know, this is the bug filer, and the condition described is no longer an issue for me. A couple of caveats: I have a different computer now with different graphics hardware (Intel GMA 4500) and naturally a different driver. It should be said, though, that when I first installed Abiword on this computer, the flicker was still there. As of Nov. 13, that was no longer the case. It would be interesting to hear from the Nvidia users.

A workaround for me is to use the abiword-gtk2-version from AUR.

It happens to me too with Catalyst drivers.

So can this bugreport be redirected to the maintainer of the abiword package?

Abiword 3.0.1-5 seems to fix this.
