Description:
It might be a matter of opinion, but I would like to see some dependencies for the R package revised:

1: 'curl' is necessary to use the 'internet' module (/usr/lib/R/modules/internet.so), might be flagged an optional dependency

2: 'java-environment' instead of 'jdk7-openjdk' might be a build dependency, as far as I know there is no mandatory version (6/7/8), and that way every packager has maximum liberty at choosing the intended environment

3: Maybe some implied dependencies could be removed as well, but they will do no harm.

curl is needed by pacman, so it is pointless to remove.

Good point, maybe some other implied dependencies might be up for removal as well (lapack needs blas, libpng and libtiff need zlib, libxmu needs libxt, pcre and pango pull in a few...) But they won't hurt of course.

Maybe then only some thought might be invested in the appropriateness of the fixed version (or maybe, if it might be time to move to java8, afaik this should not cause issues with R or with most R-java-packages) of the java-environment used for the build.
