htop can read default configuration from htoprc in system configuration file. By default this is set to ${prefix}/etc/ -- /usr/etc in our case. This should be /etc, so please add --sysconfdir=/etc to configure.

Additional info:
htop 1.0.3-3

Bringing this to the top... Now that htop 2.0.0 has been release - can we get this change in?

Bug confirmed for htop 2. When ~/.config/htop/htoprc is missing, htop tries to read /usr/etc/htoprc.

I have tested this fix and applied it to a working htop PKGBUILD that builds updated 2.0.0 for convenience. credits to xyproto
