Description:

Please add libpurple support to the stock bitlbee package.
There's already a package in AUR [1], but having it by default in extra/bitlbee would be nice.

Reason for closing:  Won't fix
Additional comments about closing:  Won't fix, as I have no interest in maintaining libpurple-enabled counterpart in repositories.

I also vote for it as all required dependencies are in official Arch Linux package repositories.

Please no. AFAIK there's no runtime switch - if you compile with --purple=1 then all installations will be using libpurple code, which creates user interface changes, requires settings to be migrated, and worst of all, comes with many new security problems.

If people want this, just move the AUR package to extra. Offer both versions officially. Debian & Ubuntu do this.
