Again, embedded video does not work with totem-xine or totem-gstreamer - nothing is displayed at all. An example:

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1542/screen14gb.jpg

The movie should be visible in the black area, but there is nothing there. Another:

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/5714/screen26kk.jpg

Nothing in the white box, but the movie should be there. And another, to prove the problem doens't like in PBS's website:

The trailer should be playing in the approximate center of the blue image. There's nothing there at all.

And this time, there are no dbus-related error messages. In fact, there are no error messages at all, neither from Gnome nor the console.

Looks like you picked some special movies to get to this bug. These movies don't play with mplayer, xine, gstreamer or whatever media player. Do they play on a windows machine with quicktime?

I usually test totem-plugin by going to the apple site, quicktime section and click some random trailer there. With both totem and totem-xine, these ones play completely fine.

Try GXine, it should play the pbs.org ones. The Apple one played quite fine on the last version of totem-xine. At any rate this would seem to indicate the problem lying in the codecs package... See here:

try it with the new codec package.

Okay... I'm not sure that's the problem, due to the lack of messages about not finding the right decoders, and the fact that the plugin widgets don't even appear, but I'll see how the new codecs package works.

Nope, still no dice... The problem seems to be with the plugin, not the codecs.

Any updates on the status of this?

Okay I've got it, see here:

It works fine with Firefox but not at all with Galeon or Epiphany. I think it's supposed to be compiled against XULRunner... Or maybe Firefox and XULRunner need separate versions?
