after recent update firefox (and luakit) crashes on startup with core dump

Both those errors are from glib2 and not glibc.

As far as I understand, the error message from firefox is innocuous. Firefox has been complaining about this for years on my system and it is working just fine.

The one from luakit is just a deprecation warning.
I don't think these messages are relevant in this case.

tadzio: Are you saying "after recent update [of glibc] firefox (and luakit) crashes on startup with core dump"?

Without backtraces we can't say anything. The glib assertion is standard, has been there for year now and is also displayed on stable systems.

As both firefox (gecko) and luakit (webkit) crash this is probably caused by a browser plugin.
