There is no configuration tool for IceWM window manager included in Arch current. I think some should be added, like IcePref2 that is prefered configurator for IceWM. In the case you don't want to add configuartion tool, predefined example of well documented configuration files should be included with icewm package. Now, IceWM uses defaults values as no configuration file is there(~/.icewm/preferences, ~/.icewm/toolbar). IceWM menus (~/.icewm/menu) could be generated with menumaker pacage that is in Arch.

I've had a look at this, and it seems IcePref2 and other associated IceWM utilities are not under active development any more - the most recent release was in August 2004. IceWM itself, however, continues in development, so I would be concerned about compatibility, and more generally, about the wisdom of adding unmaintained applications to the official repos.

Regarding the other option of providing example config files, Arch packages provide whatever the upstream developer(s) provides. If the IceWM devs do not believe it is necessary to include such examples, then we will abide by that decision.

If you are aware of more up-to-date config utilities, I would be happy to look at them.

There is a list of IceWM tools here:

(Accidentally requested task closure but this is probably a "Won't Fix"/"Not a bug" anyway...)
