DetailsDescription:
The Geeks at Work Mirror has been migrated to a more stable system. There was some downtime noted during the migration over the past few days to to upstream routing issues. These have been resolved, and the new system has both increased bandwidth and fault tolerance via multiple upstreams and HA routers. Each upstream can support 100 Mbps with no bandwidth limits. New datastore for mirrors is an array of SSDs in RAIDz2. This provides good fault tolerance, and is more suited for random read operations than the previous magnetic disk system. Additional info: The new mirror system has multiple nodes available for use, each with HTTP and rsync support: 64.182.234.104 mirror1.gaw.solutions 64.182.234.112 mirror2.gaw.solutions 64.182.234.113 mirror3.gaw.solutions Old mirror address can be removed: 64.182.234.101 mirror.gawsolutions.us mirrors.gawsolutions.us The old addresses are maintained via CNAME records which point to nodes on the new system to ensure that any cache of records, or users of hard-coded mirror details are not affected. This DNS change caused some minor downtime last week and today. The old mirror hardware will be in place until all software projects have start syncing with new repos. The following information regarding mirror details is the same as before, but reproduced below for record purposes with this ticket: Admin Contact: jhartnett@gawsolutions.us General mirror contact: mirrors@gawsolutions.us Geographical location: Dallas, Texas, USA Bandwidth: 2x 100 Mbps Symmetrical lines in High-Availability Tier 1 sync source: rit.edu mirror via rsync |
