Details

It's redundant and takes away screen estate becauses it's always before the PKGBUILD diff.

Why should it not be included and why is it redundant? Are you talking about not having .SRCINFO tracked at all?

It's a subset of information from the PKGBUILD, so it's of no human value in commit diffs.
I know why the current AUR needs it, but I'm not so sure about its value having it tracked in Git.

And how would the .SRCINFO meta data be submitted to aurweb if it is not tracked by Git? We certainly don't want to have another separate submission step for that file.

You can also always restrict diffs to specific files in cgit.
