Description:
After the last kernel update, all sound stopped working on all analog output ports with no errors. Digital output ports weren't tested. Downgrading the kernel fixed the problem. Neither ALSA nor pulseaudio would work.

Additional info:
* This started after updating linux from 4.0.7-2 to 4.1.2-2.
* The hardware is an ASUS M4N78 Pro motherboard with an nvidia video card. lspci:
