Description:
After upgrading to linux 4.1.2-2, I am experiencing high CPU usage by kworker tasks, and occasionally crashes. I checked dmesg, and this message is repeated many times per second:
[ xx.xxxxxx] alx 0000:08:00.0 enp8s0: fatal interrupt 0x4019607, resetting

Additional info:
* package version(s)
linux 4.1.2-2
* config and/or log files etc.
I don't have a copy of the dmesg output, but if it would be helpful, I can try to get one.

Steps to reproduce:
Start linux, and after a while, most of the time, the CPU usage will start to stay at 20% to 30% because of kworker threads.

If you need any more information to diagnose the problem, let me know, and I can get it.

Having identical issues. Computer will freeze, unable to get indicator light for caps lock or num lock to toggle. Forced to shutdown the machine.

This seems to be fixed in 4.2.0-rc5, although I'm still doing some testing.

Nope, not fixed, happened to me 7 times today... (And the day's not over, youhou)
Comment by Aidan E. (aereaux) - Thursday, 06 August 2015, 13:30 GMT
It is happening to me again, after not really happening to me yesterday, so I can confirm this is not fixed.

I've reported this bug upstream here: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102171. No response there, though.

Running ifconfig "Ethernet name" down, has allowed me to use my computer without freezing in the mean time.
Comment by Bastien (Eijebong) - Thursday, 07 April 2016, 11:22 GMT
This bug is still present in 4.6-rc2
Comment by mattia (nTia89) - Monday, 02 October 2017, 19:49 GMT
I cannot see this problem on my machine.

Is this issue still valid for you?
Comment by Aidan E. (aereaux) - Tuesday, 03 October 2017, 00:07 GMT
I have not used the machine that had these issues in a while, so I do not know if the issue still occurs.
