Description:

Qemu fails to build when spice is built against spice-protocol 0.12.8-1:

ERROR: User requested feature spice
configure was not able to find it.
Install spice-server(>=0.12.0) and spice-protocol(>=0.12.3) devel

It builds fine when spice is built against spice-protocol 0.12.7-1. Both versions of spice-protocol involved are the official builds. I originally encountered the issue while trying to build a modified qemu against a modified spice. I confirmed the issue occurs without modifications to either, but the attached qemu config.log is from a modified build attempt.

Only tested on x86_64.

I noticed the bug title has been changed to indicate the problem is with qemu, but based on the config.log I think the problem is actually with spice or spice-protocol. I have no idea which and didn't think [spice|spice-protocol] or such was appropriate.

spice-protocol 0.12.9 fixed the issue for me

Same thing happens when building qemu 2.4.0 too. Using spice-protocol 0.12.9 fixes the issue.
