Description:

After updating my arch two days ago and rebooting, the transparency on the taskbar/application launcher in plasma is gone.

Additional info:
- nvidia proprietary drivers 340xx
- see attached pacman.log for details
- compositing itself is active, as other transparency effects like moving a window around are present
- pacman -Syu today didn't change anything

Steps to reproduce:

- Going to system settings -> desktop effects and enabling "background contrast" shows faint transparency as it should
- disabling "background contrast" shows the full transparency as it used to, but after a few seconds the effect disappears (without moving the mouse or clicking anywhere)
