Hi there!
In May I noticed that there are no official images for booting OpenStack instances with Arch Linux. That is one reason why cloud providers do not offer virtual machines with Arch out of the box. Since then, I have been adding support for both Arch and OpenStack to image-bootstrap [1], a tool to create virtual machine images, originally for Debian and Ubuntu. By now, one can create Arch OpenStack images with image-boostrap rather easily: # image-bootstrap --openstack arch /dev/loop0 What I am hoping for is that you agree that offering official Arch OpenStack images for download would benefit the Arch community and that it would help the security of users, to have the images generated, signed and uploaded by people that are trusted by the Arch community, e.g. members of the master keyring team; in essence just what is done with archlinux-bootstrap-*-*.tar.gz, already. If there is any interest from your side, I would love to discuss any changes that you would like to see happen in image-bootstrap. If you would like to play with existing images generated by image-boostrap, you can find daily fresh ones at [2] for download. I can also recommend signing up for the closed beta of CloudScale [3], if you do not have access to an OpenStack setup by yourself. Thanks for your time. It should be probably discussed with Gerardo and Pierre as they are responsible for release engineering AFAIK.
This is interesting. I have worked on vagrant images and it is possible to generate openstack images with hashicorps packer too. I will have a look at this.
