DetailsToday I was doing a pacman -Syu but then upgrading some package per time instead doing all at one time.
pacman has say I have to upgrade fixesproto. If I do it as -Su option it is ok but if I do it as -S fixesproto it complain about the local version beeing more recent. [root@yap ~]# pacman -Su Targets: fixesproto-3.0.2-2 kernel26-2.6.16.11-1 mysql-5.0.20-2 php-5.1.2-3 squirrelmail-1.5.2cvs-2 udev-091-2 Total Package Size: 39.4 MB Proceed with upgrade? [Y/n] n [root@yap ~]# pacman -S fixesproto :: fixesproto-4.0-1: local version is newer. Upgrade anyway? [Y/n] n I think the problem is related to the sligtly different format of the version number, 4.0 -> 3.0.2 I guess that pacman get confuse in some way. It is strange, it seem that by doing -Su option and -S <pkg name> it does not use the same function to determine the package version. |

This is because I forgot to add a force flag to fixesproto. Usually pacman will tell you that your installed version is newer, but due to some conflicts on the newer version I added to libxfixes, pacman pulls in the "older" version anyways. When you pull in the "new" 3.0.2 version of fixesproto on its own, pacman checks on version number only.
