Summary and Info:

Add warning to makepkg so that when files in ${pkgdir}/etc are not listed as part of the backup=(...) array.

So, for example, do:

:::bash
find ${pkgdir}/etc -type f | { \
while read fn; do \
[[ " ${backup[*]} " == *" $fn "* ]] || echo "WARNING: $fn is not listed in PKGBUILD backup array."; done; }

Steps to Reproduce:

See  FS#45389  for an example of why this would have been helpful. I doubt this bug would have occurred if the package maintainer were warned of new/unaccounted-for files in /etc.

This would make more sense as part of namcap.

This can be implemented with a drop in file in libmakepkg with pacman-5.0
