Description:
Now that MESS has been merged into MAME the package should include the "software lists" (XML files with hashes of some known ROMs/cassettes/disk images/etc that could be used with each emulated system - http://www.mess.org/mess/howto#software_lists). (They're included in the Windows binary package from mame.net so this is definitely the intent of the MAME people, I reckon.) They're found in the upstream source zip in the 'hash' directory, which probably should be installed in /usr/share/sdlmame/hash. I have attached a small patch to the PKGBUILD of 0.167 to
create/copy the hash directory to /usr/share/sdlmame/ and can
confirm that it does enable the sdlmess catalog as well as that of
sdlmame without adjusting anything else about the build. It seems
that if upstream has decided to merge the projects and we're going
to build all the sdlmess platforms anyway why not include the
"software lists" to enable sdlmess to run correctly?
