Description:
A data corruption bug has been found in ext4, cf. [1,2]. The proposed patch [3] seems to be slated for 4.1 (and 3.14-stable). Should this be applied to 4.0.x for the time being? Not sure how severe you’d consider it, so I thought I’d ping you just in case.

Initially it was indeed suspected that [3] caused the bug, but it turned out that it isn't true. See this report in the kernel bug tracker:

linux 4.0.4-2 and linux-lts 3.14.43-2 (currently in [testing]) include the following patch:
