Description:

Having the possibility to provide libreoffice as a set of packages rather than as a whole would be fantastic. For instance, the Calligra suite already provides such a thing, but I guess it's mainly due to the upstream projects.

Debian split libreoffice into components: libreoffice-writer, libreoffice-calc, libreoffice-impress, libreoffice-math, libreoffice-draw, libreoffice-base (see https://wiki.debian.org/LibreOffice).

Archlinux could provide the same kind of packages for both the fresh and the still versions of libreoffice.

What do you think about the amount of work that would require?

This used to happen but was reverted. To install any single one takes 90% of the size anyway, so it is not worth the effort.

Not only that, there is all kinds of weird, undocumented interdependencies. Makes it a lot of work for very little gain.

Thanks for the answers (I remembered it was the case for the 4.2 I think).

Consequently, I've just opened a feature request upstream: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91339

Let's see what happens ;)
