Details

vlc has an optionnal dependency on libnotify. However, the notify plugin is missing from ArchLinux vlc package.

This plugin is not built because it depends on GTK+-2.0 which is not installed when building in a clean chroot:

checking for NOTIFY... no
configure: WARNING: Library libnotify gtk+-2.0 needed for notify was not found

An obvious fix is to add gtk2 in makedepends and optdepends arrays in vlc PKGBUILD.
