Detailscould not boot into single mode for several days(months?).
after prompted "press Ctrl+D" blah blah..., i pressed Ctrl+D, but the system seemed boot normaly and asked me for username&password. did i describe it clearly? sorry for my poor english. |

hmm don't hit ctrl+d that means you want to continue to normal boot, enter your root password and then ysou are in single mode
