Several text based filetypes (html, txt and possibly others)are missing their filetype icon in nautilus and instead just show the default icon. Thunar, rox and pcmanfm all show the icons correctly and so it seems to be a nautilus problem. I also tried reinstalling on a spare partition and nautilus still didn't display the icons correctly so I don't think it is a local setup problem

I looked at that bug before I filed this one. I didn't think it was a duplicate because consolidating all video types to one generic video icon is something a bit different to there just being no icons at all for html and txt files and instead displaying those files with the default "unknown" icon. Php, sh and py files still have icons, wouldn't they make ALL text based files have no icon if it was the same reasoning as the video instance? Also if Gnome had decided to remove those icons wouldn't they also stop displaying in the other file managers?

I'll file a bug with gnome anyway to see what they say.

Can anyone else reading this just let me know if they have icons forhtml and txt, thanks.

I should add that the missing file icons are displayed correctly when you right click -> properties so I don't think gnome has removed them. Just wading through the nautilus bugs now to double check

I just recompliled nautilus with the patch from http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=335435 last night and the icons now show correctly.
