ffmpeg can link to xz since version 2.4 to enable lzma support for the tiff decoder.
The Arch package could add this dependency.

It already is a dependency (through multiple paths), and libavcodec is linked to liblzma. Is it not working correctly?

I screwed up my testing and when i saw xz was not explicitly listed in the package dependency list i assumed it was not linking to it.
