Details

Description:
While copying files to usb device (USB key or external hdd) system is freezing until all files are copied.
GI have googled and found this solution that helps:

so disable hugepages helps.
maybe should be disabled defaulty in system.
i am using 64bit arch

i am not sure what is the thing happening here but I will do tests with my older pc because it isnt normal that my older pc not have this problem, and other likes the speed shown in the copy.. very fast and after stops minutes until it is finished, it is like the speed shown was the speed to the cache and not to the usb

it is an old issue but the deactivation of hugepages defrag with madvise(I think because i don't know the way to test if it is desactivated) and the put of dirty pages fix my problem, in speed with the usb and the lag of the pc, all went fenomenal I think, I will do more tests but at the moment I think the fix has to be in the stock kernel.. sometimes is imposible to work with data transfering in the background and now yes

yes and not, it is something related at the way the kernel uses de ram for cache.. it is not from arch fault, sorry, i will close
