again I repeat this: AL needs a system to make sure binaries from apps that dep on updated dep do not fail

Are you running testing? subversion was built against apache and apr in extra. You can't mix deps like that, otherwise they will have problems. I don't know what sort of system would handle something like that.

I don't have access to a machine with testing installed on it. I'll try and get one of the other devs to update subversion for testing.

Jason, you can close this one. It's circular deps between apr svn and apache. see http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/2288 it stills hunts me :)

I hope after some -Sd and -Rs all will work again
