X fails to start after updating nvidia package today.

Additional info:
* package version(s): nvidia 346.59-1
linux 3.19.3-3

* config and/or log files etc:

Did you think about rebooting or unloading/loading the nvidia kernel module?

That was after a reboot. I then rebooted again just to be sure. So, no, its not a clear case. I'd appreciate it if you would not operate under the assumption that I am an idiot. Thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I have tried rebooting (of course) and I dug into the Xorg log and saw the crash happening there.

I'm using Cinnamon on GDM. GDM seems to load fine, but Cinnamon crashes.

If Xorg crashes because of an issue with nvidia, wouldn't that materialize and show itself through Cinnamon crashing?

So what exactly is the issue here? From the sounds of it, it's a half-updated system but since more users experience this it's more like a broken package. However, all packages seem to have been updates without error.
