in previous versions of gnome-icon-theme i had specific icons for different video types such as mpeg or avi, but in the current version there is only a global video png, but those gnome-mime-video-mpeg.png or gnome-mime-video-quicktime.png icons aren't there anymore. please add them again.

This is not Archlinux's problem and should not be treated as such. The removal of those mimetype icons was made by the gnome-icon-theme team. Maybe you should file a bug report with them?

yeah, do so. but i think they will close it as not a bug, they tried to remove these during the code freeze in gnome 2.13

Arch Linux philosophy is that every package has to be as vanilla as possible, with only vital patches applied. So, there is no reason for Arch Linux developers to add keep these icons if they were removed by original package authors. If you want, you may keep these icons or make fixed package.

yeah, i already found that those icons had been removed last fall from the gnome icon theme. can someone please close this as invalid?
