Last time I used it (about two months ago) it was working. When I upgraded from 1.17.1-7 to 1.17.2-1 I encountered the exact same issue with a similar error log as the one above. I am on a 64 bit machine though. The bug information should probably be updated to include both architectures. Also, my video card is an ATI Radeon X300, and I think it might be due to just having such an old ATI card. I will upgrade it as soon and hopefully it won't need to be fixed.

We had several updates around kernel/Xorg/mesa/driver packages. Please ask to reopen or file a new one if you are still affected.
