Description:

After upgrading xorg-xinit from 1.3.4-1 to 1.3.4-2, there were some weird effects:
- some (cinnamon) keyboard shortcuts didn't work (e.g. open terminal, adjust volume), others did (switch workspace)
- some gtk programs, when started, used an old gtk2-ish interface
- SSH_AUTH_SOCK which I set in .xinitrc is not available.

Additional info:
* package version(s): Everything except xorg-xinit is up to date.
* config and/or log files etc. There is no Xorg.*.log. If you tell me what to grep for in the journal, I can post that.
This task depends upon

Where exactly did you look for a log?

And how are you starting X?

startx. To be precise, I have this in my .bash_profile:

[[ -z $DISPLAY && $XDG_VTNR -eq 1 ]] && exec startx

Sorry Karol, didn't see your post in the first instance. I found logs in .local/share, however, there's only the last two and the relevant log is already gone (it was already when I reported the bug because I restarted twice to see if it was really fixed by the downgrade.)

I just noticed that the volume keys etc suddenly stopped working (nothing happens when I press them), without having restarted the X session. I found a <defunct> [cinnamon-launch] process in ps aux output, maybe it's caused by that. Thus there must be a secondary source for this problem. But xinit must play a role, too, because with 1.3.4-2, this happened directly when starting the session. Hope that information helps :)

xorg-xinit changed to upstream behavior. so it's rather an issue with how's cinnamon started.

Since nothing else is affected and we use upstream behavior assigning the bug to the Cinnamon maintainer now.

Please attach the output of the following command after reboot and login:

$ journalctl -b -t cinnamon-session
