The tray icon shows properly with kadu 1.5-1.

Maybe because of the disabled indicator_docking plugin?

Yep, can confirm. It shows only blank space. No icon.

As workaround I can start kadu with icon from terminal:

DESKTOP_SESSION="" XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP="" /usr/bin/kadu

I'm using xfce (4.12) and both environment variables are set to xfce:
DESKTOP_SESSION=xfce
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=XFCE

I still get an invisible icon when using the default icon theme. qt5-svg is installed. Current workaround is to use the oxygen icon theme.
