Description: since the client depends on Qt5, the icon does not show up in the tray anymore.

This is a known Qt upstream bug that also happens in the Dropbox aur package (see https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/dropbox/ for comments), and the current workaround is to keep using the last version using Qt5.

It happens both with the normal icon tray and the topicons gnome extension.

Additional info:
* package version(s):
** owncloud-client 1.8.0-1
** qt5-webkit 5.4.1-2
** gnome-shell 3.14.3-2

I know that this is an upstream bug, but people may still be interested.

Can confirm this, also doesn't work in cinnamon-desktop (which is Gnome 3 based though).

I seems this will only be fixed in Qt5.5, so I'll switch back to Qt4 for now.
