Description:

Hello,

I just wanted to request that Pale Moon browser be added to the repository. Here's a link to the website http://www.palemoon.org/, sourceforge page http://sourceforge.net/projects/pm4linux/ and redistribution license http://www.palemoon.org/redist.shtml.

Thanks,
fidelis

Ok, why? Packages are added to the repository because someone cares about them, not simply because $SHINY_NEW_THING exists and has gained some amount of popularity. Nobody wins if this is maintained in [extra] or [community] by a dev/TU who doesn't actually use the package.

I assumed that a dev would care about browser choice. Especially with some of the stuff Mozilla has pulled lately.

We already have at least:

arora
epiphany
firefox
chromium
w3m
dillo
dwb
elinks
midori
nersurf
opera
rekonq
surf

Do we really need another browser?

What's wrong with the palemoon packages in the AUR?

Dave Reisner (falconindy): A direct alternative to Firefox isn't among them though, so I would think that it would be a good idea. Just a suggestion, of coarse it is up to you guys in the end.

Karol Błażewicz (karol): I wasn't aware it was in the AUR. Thanks for letting me know. However, it being in the official repository would give Pale Moon more exposure and let more people know there is a direct alternative to Firefox.
