Details
In other distro's (e.g. Ubuntu) it is possible to ctrl-c a
bootupscript, so if you try to mount a nfs-partition which
isn't available you don't have to wait for the timeout.

I don't get how this one is possible. I was thinking about this
the other day and is init not non-interactive? Would we not need
to launch an interactive shell at some point during boot for this
to be doable? I mean rc.multi would be a good time but that
doesn't make it feasible.
