I have the "Suspend desktop effects for fullscreen windows" (a.k.a. "unredirect fullscreen") option enabled, which is necessary to make OpenGL apps not flicker or otherwise behave poorly when compositing is enabled. The option is ignored by kwin when running with an Intel graphics driver, due to a long-fixed bug:

Given the timeline of the fix, it's safe to say that Arch has already absorbed the upstream fix and cannot be affected by this issue. I've attached a patch which reverts the hack in kwin which made the option ignored. Can this please be added to kdebase-workspace?

This affects Plasma 5 too, I'm unable to enable unredirect fullscreen.

kwin 4 is dead, and for kwin 5 this won't be fixed, see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344319
