Junk mail filtering does not appear to work without spamassassin, so it should probably be a dependency of the evolution package or at least noted that it is needed in the post install message.

this isn't needed at all.

reason: some of us have spamassasin installed on our servers, so it would drag in a lot of deps.

who exactly is this us you speak of? if it's not added as a dependency because of "us", then there should at least be some post install notice given that to use spam related features you would need to install spamassassin. not everyone has their own custom servers for mail.

well i do not want every app to tell what a user should install extra... maybe we should have an suggested packages var

not for every app, no. my only reason for suggesting the post install message was because packages such as banshee do this. a var for use in the pkgbuild might be useful for standardizing such things, if that's what you meant by a suggested packages var.

yeah, but imho should this only be shown on install not on every update... i will need to discuss this with the team.

Also, gnome-pilot is needed for synchronization (Edit -> Synchronization Options...).
As for myself, I prefer an install message which is shown even in updates.

Well, Evolution and Spam filtering seems to be quite worthless whether Spamassassin is installed or not. Dunno what has happened - I have abandoned Evolution and gone over to Mozilla Thunderbird, which seems to have a functioning Spam filter.
