Description:
The Qt Designer icon is named designer.png.
Qt Designer tries to look for icons with the names designer-break-layout, designer-grid-layout, designer-horizontal-layout, etc. for the toolbar. Since these don't exist, it will fallback to more general icon names (designer-break-layout -> designer-break -> designer) until it finds a match and then mistakenly match the designer app icon.
The icon should be renamed to designer-qt5.png or QtProject-designer.png and the designer.desktop file adjusted accordingly.

This issue depends on https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/43940.

Additional info:
* qt5-tools 5.4.1-1

Steps to reproduce:
Run designer-qt5

This issue occurs when using KDE Plasma 5.

Sounds like something you need to take upstream. That's how they name the icon and how they ship the .desktop file.

The .desktop file and icon are manually installed by the PKGBUILD.

Manually installed but not altered.

I don't see it in the Linux binary installers.
Can you point me to where they do this upstream?

OK, I screwed up, the .desktop file DOES come from Arch instead of upstream. Sorry, don't know how I missed that.

Probably best to prefix the icon with "QtProject-" so designer.png becomes QtProject-designer.png.

This is what is done upstream for the qtcreator package:
