DetailsAfter the ACPI patch from 2.6.17 was added to 2.6.16.1 in testing with PKG rel 2, I have experienced lag in all aspects of the OS. For example, when starting X, the NVIDIA logo usually flashes for less than a second, but with this patch it now hangs around for 5 or more seconds. Opening menus also lag, not much, but it if definately slower than normal. glxgears also reports a drop of around 600 FPS.
To test my theory that it was the ACPI patch, I grabbed the latest PKGBUILD (2.6.16.1-4) and all the rest, with abs, and built the kernel without the ACPI patch and it worked. Speed is now back to normal. - Rpg Cyco |
This task depends upon
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Motherboard: Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939
Memory: 1GB DDR400
GFX Card: 128MB GeForce 6600 GT
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy

sorry here the patch doesn't hurt so some debugging could help to fix this.
Therefore, I have attached two log files, the 2.6.16.1-4.txt is the kernel from current, obviously, and 2.6.16.1-5 is my custom built kernel.
