Details
On an Intel G45 based system, I am getting a "WARNING: CPU:
1 PID: 0 at drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:9916
intel_check_page_flip+0xc2/0xd0 [i915]()" upon updating to
3.18.2-2. After seeing this in dmesg, everything running
(vnc-sessions and live X sessions) are very sluggish. A
reboot fixes it but the error is soon thrown again. I didn't
experience this using 3.18.1-1 from [testing].
Complete dmesg output is attached as well as one with the drm.debug=14 kernel parameter. Note that the kernel version is 3.18.2-2 which does incorporate D. Vetter's patch (out-of-tree I think)[1] found from this[2] bug report. Googling on the error found this bug report[3] against Fedora, so I am not the only one experiencing it. Finally, I did report this upstream[4] but wanted to log it here as well if these sorts of reports are used to assess the readiness of newer major kernel bumps to move out of [testing]. 1. http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=d472fcc8379c062bd56a3876fc6ef22258f14a91 2. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76554#c116 3, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1174009 4. https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91221 |
