As described in this bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=739728 on the Gnome Bugzilla, there is a packaging problem with the arch xorg package due to an update on Wacom management in the Kernel, causing the "map buttons" interface to disappear in Gnome Control Center. As Benjamin Tissoires explained : - the file shipped in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf should not overwrite the "driver" option, otherwise the wacom rules get rejected. I don't understand why... !
part of the xf86-input-synaptics pkg. We only ship upstream /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf + and patch it
to add tap buttons that won't hurt the wacom device.
I guess you need to add a proper udev rule for kernel 3.17 as suggested in the upstream report that should be further discussed in
FS#43408.
