No other distro(fedora, mandriva, gentoo, frugal, rocklinux) has a gcc4 patch. I wonder if all of them still use old binaries. Any way known to compile it again?

Do we still need it in current/base?

raidtools(2) is deprecated, most users use mdadm nowadays. I know Debian has a gcc4 patch, since one of my friends used to maintain it in debian. He deprecated it in favour of mdadm after debian sarge was released as stable, so I wouldn't use it anymore either.

I can't find the patch: http://packages.debian.org/stable/admin/raidtools2

I don't want to use it but it's still in current/base so I have to try to port it. Our arch64 package has been made in times with gcc3.x Now I wanted to rebuild it. Maybe someone can find the patch. Arch(32bit) will also need it.

The package you're pointing to is debian's transition package which contains a dependency on mdadm and gives a description about upgrading to it. I've looked at the latest version before they ditched it, seems like it contained some AMD64 fixes, but no gcc4 fixes.
