Can't reproduce here, also in plasma 5. Does it still happen in a clean user? and with a different Qt4 theme?

Hi. Could you try pinning a tab and then restarting rekonq? I just realized that the bug disappears when I remove my pinned tab (inoreader). Strange that it only happens under Plasma 5 however...

OK reproduced. It only happens with the breeze and oxygen themes, so it's most likely a theme issue. Please report upstream under the Breeze/Qstyle category
@Doug: Please reassign to the breeze-kde4 package
