The totem-plugin package in Testing doesn't work with totem,
only with totem-xine. If you try to use it with the
GStreamer 0.10 version of Totem, things won't play; running
your browser from the console will produce a message to the
effect that the plugin needs the Xine library.
Perhaps there should be two builds of the plugin, totem-plugin and totem-xine-plugin? |

Additional comments about closing: Fixed, totem-plugin doesn't depend on a specific backend anymore. It plays fine with both xine and gstreamer, though gstreamer seems to have problems with the quicktime trailers I tried.

First of all, totem-xine from Testing doesn't provide totem, so installing totem-plugin with totem-xine requires you to use -Sd.
Second, and much worse, the plugin doesn't work at all with totem-xine either, and produces no console output.
I'll test this with Epiphany in a moment, but I suspect the worst here.
I'll take a look at this plugins stuff. It used to work with 1.2.x fine, but things could be different now.
