DetailsDescription: polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1(needed for authentication with system-config-printer) does not start automatically, even though the .desktop file is in /etc/xdg/autostart. It can be started manually, but autostart does not seem to function.
I copied the .desktop file to ~/.config/autostart, but it still fails to start. The only way I have been able to start it so far is to open a terminal, su to root, start it with the command /usr/lib/polkit-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 &, then log out of the root session. Running ps then show that both polkit and the authentication agent are running: 383 ? Ssl 0:00 /usr/lib/polkit-1/polkitd --no-debug 5341 pts/1 Sl 0:00 /usr/lib/polkit-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 Additional info: * package version(s)polkit-gnome-0.105-2-x86_64 * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: start Xfce as a normal user, run ps to check for polkit. |
