DetailsDescription:
On some boards tv tuner may be separate from fm tuner, but bttv/ivtv will not allow use of fm tuner once tv tuner has been used at least once after boot. Additional info: Sometimes even xawtv complains about not being able to use tuner. The error message in either /dev/radiox or /dev/videox is that the device is already in use, when it isn't being used by anything simultaneously or otherwise. Steps to reproduce: Boot fresh. Run ivtv-radio or radio (from xawtv), and find that it works from fresh. Then run xawtv or mplayer or vlc and use the tv tuner. Try to use radio application after tv application is closed, and /dev/radiox: device already in use. |

I'm not sure how often the bttv/ivtv is changed in the kernel tree, but currently, I can get radio audio, but no tv audio.
I don't know why this seems to work in one kernel and then quit in another kernel. Don't think they'd change it all that often.
