Description:

kbuildsycoca5 Could not find drkonqi at /usr/lib/drkonqi

This because drkonqi is stored at:
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi

Making a link solves the problem.
cd /usr/lib
[root@renard lib]# ls drk
ls: cannot access drk: No such file or directory
[root@renard lib]# ln -s /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi .

drkonqi, in KF5, is part of plasma-workspace(-git)

greetings

This should work with kde4, though, shouldn't it?
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Thursday, 11 December 2014, 16:14 GMT
No, it should not work with KDE4.

KService is part of KDE Frameworks 5.
Plasma-Workspace is part of Plasma Next (a layer above).

Maybe plasma-workspace should be an optional dependence then.

yes, installing plasma-workspace definitely solved some issues with gwenview.

another issue I'm having is with the toolbar, there are no icons, just text... any suggestions?

...if it should not work with kde4, why was it installed as a part of today's upgrade though? I never explicitly installed any kde5 components, whatever came in came from the regular "pacman -Syu"

Please report the output of "pacman -Qi kservice | grep Required"
Comment by Ivan P (Soukyuu) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 13:56 GMT
pacman -Qi kservice | grep Required:
Required By : kemoticons knotifications ktextwidgets
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 14:02 GMT
Ok, unfortunately that doesn't help. Navigate through the packages and find what required kemoticons, knotifications and ktextwidgets (and so on...).
Comment by Ivan P (Soukyuu) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 16:12 GMT
Ok, that's what I have so far:

kemoticons: required by kdelibs4support: required by baloo-frameworks konsole
knotifications: required by kwallet: required by kio: required by kdeclarative kinit knewstuff knotifyconfig kparts
ktextwidgets: required by kxmlgui: required by kbookmarks kcmutils

Do you need me to go deeper?
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 16:16 GMT
Nope, we have a culprit: konsole!
konsole is using KDE Frameworks 5 now.
Comment by Ivan P (Soukyuu) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 16:25 GMT
So is kate, afaik. So is the behavior with not being able to find drkonqi atm expected (=normal)?
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 16:50 GMT
I guess we should split off drkonqi from plasma-workspace and make it an optdepends of kcrash.
Comment by Antonio Rojas (arojas) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 16:56 GMT
Yes, until they move drkonqi to kcrash. A temporary solution that doesn't require messing with the file system is adding "/usr/lib/" to LIBEXEC_PATH
Comment by Andrea Scarpino (BaSh) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 16:59 GMT
Uh? Which issue with file system?
Comment by Antonio Rojas (arojas) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 17:01 GMT
@Andrea sorry, I was replying to the previous comment. I mean instead of symlinking, the OP can set the env variable
Comment by Antonio Rojas (arojas) - Wednesday, 28 January 2015, 17:05 GMT
That should have been: add "/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/" to LIBEXEC_PATH, not "/usr/lib/"
