Hello, could you please applay the patch like described under http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/wmeLDTiiddBYaGtsX8mP on xorg-server? This enables that you dont't have to call xrandr --setprovideroutputsource after connecting a display link device. You can immediatelly configure the monitor. I tested this patch with up to 3 connected usb displaylink devices and it seem to work fine. "this is racy and really not what we want for hotplug going forward, but until DE support is in GNOME its probably for the best."
