Did that both as root and user and it did not help. I receive the same error msg. I reinstalled all dependencies. Did not help either.

got it to load by running xdg-user-dirs-update (sic! no gtk in the command). But no big deal. Read about it on the net and it is no groovy app, so I will stick to Clementine and gnome-mplayer. They work without hassle, prying and internet checks.
